Gospel Crusade Draws the Community Together in Faith

There is something that happens in an open-air crusade that cannot quite be replicated indoors. When the lights are set up and the sound carries across the neighborhood, people come who would never walk through a church door — curious, cautious, drawn by something they cannot yet name. That was the atmosphere at this year's gospel crusade, an evening gathering that drew families from across the wider community and from nearby streets who simply followed the sound of singing.

Rev. Isaac preached from the Gospel of Luke — the account of the prodigal son, the reckless grace of a father who ran down the road, and the feast that followed. His preaching was what those who know him expect: unhurried, honest, and soaked in Scripture. He did not aim at the emotions first; he aimed at the understanding, and the heart followed. By the end of the evening, when he gave the invitation to come forward for prayer, a steady stream of people made their way to the front — some making first commitments, others returning to a faith they had left behind years before.
